Arcade.dev LLM tools for sending and reading SMS through Twilio
1.0.0Twilio toolkit for Arcade enables LLMs to send and receive SMS messages through the Twilio API using account credentials. It covers phone number discovery, full conversation history, and outbound messaging.
Capabilities
- Outbound messaging: Send SMS from any Twilio number on the account; returns message SID and delivery status. Trial accounts are limited to verified destination numbers.
- Conversation history: Retrieve a two-way SMS thread with a specific contact (inbound + outbound), paginated newest-first with cursor support.
- Inbound message listing: List SMS messages received on a specific Twilio number, paginated newest-first with cursor support.
- Phone number discovery: List SMS-capable phone numbers on the account in ascending order; pagination skips numbers that cannot send SMS.
Secrets
All three secrets are required and work together to authenticate API requests.

TWILIO_ACCOUNT_SID— The unique identifier for your Twilio account. Find it on the Twilio Console homepage under Account Info. It begins withAC. -
TWILIO_API_KEY_SID— The SID of a Twilio API Key, used alongside the API Key Secret instead of your primary account credentials. Create an API Key in the Twilio Console under Account → API Keys & Tokens (docs). Choose Standard type unless you need Admin-level access. The SID begins withSK. -
TWILIO_API_KEY_SECRET— The secret value shown once at API Key creation time in the Twilio Console. Copy and store it immediately — Twilio does not display it again after the creation screen is closed.
